Warehouse / Logistics Manager
Our canvas family consists of three companies: Posh Frocks and Wellies, Resonate Events and The Canvas Co. With a focus on temporary structures, we provide venues for wedding receptions, back garden cinemas, bars and boutique camping at British music festivals.
Most of our work takes place during the summer as we provide luxury boutique camping accommodation to festivals and events all across the UK, our customers include Kendal Calling, Glastonbury and bluedot festival to name a few. We also hire luxury canvas marquees for weddings and private events across the North West and back garden cinema equipment and tents for small parties and back garden parties.
We are an ever-growing trio currently in search of a Warehouse and Logistics Manager to assist with the day to day management of the warehouse and helping to plan our logisitics for the summer.
We are looking for an experienced warehouse and logistics manager to run our warehouse in Macclesfield. You'll need excellent interpersonal skills as you'll be the key link between our warehouse and ensuring that the crew have what they need on site. This role is for someone with a keen eye for planning, incredibly well organised, and a brain built for logistics!
A well managed warehouse is critical to the success of our business, and we are looking for an experienced manager to lead the operation in elevating the performance and working environment whilst adopting our company’s values.
You must be able to work independently, as well as with other team members to uphold our high standards for both customer and staff experience. Initially this will be an 8 month contract, running from March 4th to November 8th 2024, with the possibility of a permanent role for the right candidate.
This is a varied role that will include:
Office computer based planning
Managing the warehouse crew and planning the daily, weekly and monthly schedules of work
Physical work, moving kit, loading vans and trucks
Logistics Planning:
Stock control
Truck haulage scheduling and booking
Logistics planning creating load lists
Liaising with the site managers, discussing logistics plans and ensuring they have everything they need to get the job done
Admin work updating spreadsheets: there will be lots of quick changes once the summer is rolling
Warehouse managing:
Work schedules
Managing all goods in and out of our warehouse
Managing a small warehouse team
Weekly / Monthly and annual scheduling of tasks
During the summer occasional driving vans to deliver goods to events
Occasional joining teams onsite to erect tents and marquees
Loading and unloading trucks with a forklift, training given for this.
Repairing tents and equipment
Keeping stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate
Coordinating and monitoring the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of goods
Plan future capacity requirements
Required Experience/Skills:
Planning and organising skills to effectively manage the flow of stock
Analytical thinking with logistics experience
People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team of people, delegate work and explain ideas
Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word
Very organised!
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Over 25 with a full UK driving license
Experience at driving large vans
Good communication skills
Good decision making skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable skills:
Fork/Telehandler license would be a bonus but not necessary
HGV License would be a bonus but not necessary
A flexible approach to work during the summer - there will be the occasional late night getting kit ready for events
Hours:
40 hour week - Monday to Friday, working 8.30am to 5.30pm, including bank holidays
Holiday allowance - *Please note, holiday allowance is restricted to 1 week only between June and August*
Any overtime will be paid back as extra holidays
As the company grows the opportunity to move into a full time ops manager role, or a full time warehouse manager role as we bring in more staff to help us grow
