Warehouse Manager
Our canvas family consists of three companies: The Canvas Co, Posh Frocks and Wellies and Resonate Events. We are one of the leading suppliers of boutique camping accommodation at events and music festivals, and to complement this our sister companies provide luxury marquees for weddings and events, and back garden cinema experiences.
We are an ever-growing trio and currently in search of a Warehouse Manager to assist with the day to day running of the warehouse.
We are looking for an experienced warehouse manager to run our warehouse in Macclesfield. You'll need excellent interpersonal skills as you'll be the key link between our warehouse and whats happening onsite at events across the UK. This role is for someone with a keen eye for planning, incredibly well organised and great people management skills.
A well managed warehouse is critical to the success of our business, and we are looking for an experienced manager to lead this part of our operation. You will work closely with our director to plan the daily, weekly and monthly tasks to be completed in the warehouse. And you will be a key part of the warehouse team.
Hands on practical skills to help with repairing and improving our kit is a necessity.
This is a very varied role, we are extremely busy from May to September with a team of between 6 and 9 working in the warehouse under your supervision. During the quieter months from October to April this is a much smaller team of 2, completing tasks to clean and repair all our kit ready for the following busy season.
You must be able to work independently, as well as with other team members to uphold our high standards for both customer and staff experience.
This is a full time role, available to start now for the right candidate.
Salary is £24k to £30k depending on your experience.
This is a varied role that will include:
Managing the warehouse crew and planning the daily, weekly and monthly schedules of work
Physical work, moving kit, loading vans and trucks
Practical work, odd jobs, repairing kit, building new kit, improving our ways of working.
Occasionally out onsite helping with marquee or bell tent builds
Fleet management, we have 5 vehicles and a trailer, basic fleet management, ensuring repairs are booked in, MOT's, tyres booked in to be replaced, etc
Warehouse managing:
Planning work schedules, weekly / monthly and annual scheduling of tasks
Managing all goods in and out of our warehouse
Managing the small warehouse team
Occasional driving vans to deliver goods to events
Occasional joining teams onsite to erect tents and marquees
Loading and unloading trucks with a forklift, training given for this.
Repairing tents and equipment
Keeping stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate
Coordinating and monitoring the receipt, order, assembly and dispatch of goods
Plan future capacity requirements
Required Experience/Skills:
Practical and handy with tools
Planning and organising skills to effectively manage the flow of stock
People management skills, including the ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team of people, delegate work and explain ideas
Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word
Very organised!
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Over 18 with a full UK driving license
Experience at driving large vans
Good communication skills
Good decision making skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Desirable skills:
Fork/Telehandler license would be a bonus but not necessary
HGV License would be a bonus but not necessary
A flexible approach to work during the summer - there will be the occasional late night getting kit ready for events
Hours:
38.25 hour week - Monday to Friday, working 8.45am to 5.15pm (*including bank holidays when required)
Holiday allowance is 28 days per year, accrued at 1/12th of this per month worked - *Please note, holiday allowance is restricted between mid May and mid September due to the nature of our work and this being our busiest 3 months of the year. You can only use a maximum of 7 days holiday entitlement during this time.
Any overtime earned will be paid back as additional holiday entitlement to be taken in the quieter months.
This role is a full time contract that starts on an 8 month probation contract.
